Are Lithium-Sulfur Batteries the Answer for EVs? (Virtual Event)

June 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

SAA’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) invites members and guests to a free webinar to hear from Lyten, an advanced materials and EV battery company based in Silicon Valley, CA.

Lyten says its LytCell EV battery platform is targeted to have significantly higher energy density than today’s lithium-ion batteries, and it will be much safer. The batteries could be used in a production EV built in the U.S. by the middle of this decade. The battery platform uses lithium-sulfur cells, which are different than traditional or even advanced, solid-state lithium-ion cells. Rather than using nickel, manganese, cobalt, or aluminum in the cathode, Lyten utilizes sulfur and its proprietary 3D graphene. The company believes this will enable the delivery of cells that are equivalent to or better than competing cells in terms of energy density, cost per kWh, ease of materials sourcing, environmental footprint, and safety. Lyten’s supply chain is expected to be 100% North America sourced, without dependencies on uncertain or scarce supply from China, Russia, the DRC, etc.
